As colored spun or melange effects become more and more popular, manufacturers need to produce unique textiles at a reasonable cost to make them stand out from traditional plain fabrics. SSM’s fancyflex technology is a world first and can create an unlimited range of customized knitted or woven fabrics during the air-enveloping stage, with novel effects.

Although Siro Yarns and twisted fancy yarns have been around for decades, but there are very few air-jet processed fancy filament yarns. SSM has launched several solutions for filament yarns, such as pre-oriented yarn (POY) or fully drawn yarn (FDY), using DP5-T and DP5-FT respectively for air texturing or false twist texturing. fancyflex can now process Drawn Textured Yarn (DTY) directly into fancy yarns during the air covering stage – offering an unprecedented innovation.

Use With fancyflex, manufacturers can create numerous colors by using different dope-dyed primary yarns, thus minimizing raw material inventory. Using the same raw materials, cationic and standard polyester yarns can also be compounded together during the air coating stage to achieve more color effects that appear after dyeing. The software has two options, VARIO (including VARIO color�, VARIO Stretch and VARIO 3-Color) and a network of fancy yarns to unlock an unlimited number of colors and designs.

baseline Fancyflex VARIO was specially developed by SSM for the XENO-AC air bagging machine. It is the world’s first fancy and controllable color change option specially developed for the air bagging process. This patented technology can control the speed changes of the feed roller to create color or light and dark changes in the final DTY or FDY yarn.

　fancyflex VARIO Mounts to any standard XENO-AC 2-strand compound without any mechanical modifications. Additional spandex or Lurex filaments can be spun into the final yarn to achieve stretchy or shiny aesthetic properties.

fancyflex VARIO color change Options

Specialized SSM software independently controls the two yarn strands and feeds them to the network nozzle through a simple two-step cycle or random time settings. fancyflex VARIO can create different types of colors – from quick color changes to soft color gradients. Additionally, time settings can be randomized to produce different fabric length cycles.

SISM A pattern pattern has also been developed to produce yarns of greater complexity that cannot be achieved with a two-step setup. In fact, unlike a random setting, pattern mode offers a sequence of up to 40 different independently programmable steps for absolute control over fabric design.

fancyflex VARIO Stretch function

　fancyflex VARIO Stretch allows the user to change the amount of stretch of the spandex filaments in the yarn. The fabrics produced in this way take on special shapes and are suitable for use as fashion fabrics or technical fabrics that require different levels of shrinkage.
