In order to understand the new cotton production situation in Hebei, the Hebei Tangshan Monitoring Station conducted a telephone survey on multiple local monitoring points.
The survey results show that this year’s cotton production in Tangshan, Hebei Province has declined compared with previous years. Last year, the average seed cotton yield per mu was about 250 kilograms. It is expected that this year’s average yield per mu will be about 210-220 kilograms, a decrease of about 12%-16%. . Analyzing the reasons, one is that there was too much rain this summer, which caused most of the cotton buds to fall off, especially the peaches before Fushi was severely affected, and there were basically no peaches at the roots of the cotton plants, resulting in a decrease in cotton yield; the other was that cotton entered the fluffing period and was affected by rain. Affected by the weather, cotton wadding has been delayed; thirdly, during the National Day holiday, it should be the peak season for new cotton picking. However, due to the impact of continuous rainfall this year, cotton picking this year has been delayed compared to last year, which has adversely affected cotton growth.
As of the 25th, cotton picking has reached about 70-80%. This year’s cotton production has been reduced mainly due to climate effects. In addition, the actual cotton sown area this year has also declined compared with last year. Therefore, this year’s local Cotton yields per unit area and total output are both declining.
