Guangzhou is one of China’s largest production bases for fashion apparel accessories, bags, footwear, and leather goods. In recent years, it has moved from a “thousand-year commercial capital” to a “fashion capital”. Canton Fair Fashion Week further expands the influence, radiation coverage and transaction effect of Chinese designers, clothing and apparel, and textile fabric companies by creating a more professional, richer, and trendier fashion exchange platform.
The theme of this Canton Fair Fashion Week is “New Fabrics·New Trends”. At the beginning of the event, Deng Zhaoping, winner of China’s highest fashion design award “Golden Summit Award”, presented a spring and summer new product show titled “Shining Light”. Among them, the “Favorite List” series included shrimp dumplings, siomai, barbecued pork, etc. in Guangzhou morning tea. Painted on clothing fabrics, it shows the self-styled and leisurely lifestyle of Guangzhou people.
Deng Zhaoping introduced that she hopes to use the Canton Fair to promote China’s innovative fabrics to the world: “Since the epidemic, the whole world has paid more attention to health and life. This time I brought the aerospace technology material – polyimide. The biggest highlight this year is By interweaving polyimide into various cotton and linen silks, the fabric made is flame retardant, lightweight and warm, and its thermal insulation effect is equivalent to that of animal fur.”
At the event, Sun Enle, director of the Modern Fashion Engineering Technology Center of Guangdong University of Technology, also brought masterpieces designed with traditional Guangdong “Xiangyun yarn” and Chaoshan drawn yarn; Qu Tingnan, executive director of the Art Committee of the China Fashion Designers Association, demonstrated the use of plain white mulberry silk varieties. The design is created with “plain crepe satin” as the main fabric and using landscape painting techniques such as “cracking” and “dying”.
