The sericulture industry is the leading industry that increases farmers’ income in Yangcheng County. In order to bring new vitality to the sericulture industry, the County Sericulture Center focuses on seeking breakthroughs in technological innovation, vigorously promotes mulberry garden mulching film covering technology, reduces weeding labor, improves soil water and fertilizer retention capacity, introduces Sichuan mulberry leaf harvesting technology, and improves mulberry harvesting technology. The efficiency of leaf harvesting has promoted the large-scale management of mulberry orchards in the county. In 2021, Yangcheng sericulture culture was selected into the sixth batch of China’s important agricultural cultural heritage list; the “Yangcheng Silkworm Cocoon” geographical indication certification trademark was successfully registered; “City Mulberry Leaf Tea” was selected as one of the ten hot products of “Shanxi Medicinal Tea”; more than 2,080 acres of mulberry gardens were built in the county, more than 120 sericulture technology training sessions were carried out, 1.58 million kilograms of cocoons were produced throughout the year, and the income of silkworm farmers reached 89.95 million yuan.
