The spring breeze blows the grass green, and the cuckoo encourages spring plowing. Since April 6, the spring sowing of cotton in our state has been in full swing. Accompanied by the roar of high-horsepower tractors, various “smart” agricultural machinery are busy in the fields, which has started an “acceleration” for this year’s spring sowing work.
On April 25, in Baiyangshuzhuang Village, Letuyi Town, Manas County, a Beidou navigation unmanned seeder shuttled back and forth in the cotton field of cotton farmer Ma Tao. Two workers followed the seeder closely to check. Ditching, planting, spreading film, covering soil, etc. Because the land is flat, the tractor drives a seeder that can sow 12 rows of cotton at a time. On this 600-meter-long land, more than 8 acres of land can be sown in one round trip.
Ma Tao’s cotton field has used driverless tractors for spring sowing for the fourth year. In 2020, he planted more than 30,000 acres of cotton, and the yield and harvest met expectations. This year, he expanded the cotton planting area by 10,000 acres, prepared agricultural materials in advance, contacted the locomotive, and chose the right time to sow seeds during the farming season. “The machine directly buries the drip irrigation tape under the mulch to store moisture and discharge alkali, and can also save water and increase income. This year I planted 48,000 acres of cotton. The entire process from plowing to sowing was mechanized, and it only took 20 days to complete. Now. Now , land preparation, precision sowing, drone spraying, high-efficiency water-saving drip irrigation, and cotton harvesting are all mechanized and intelligent operations,” Ma Tao said.
In order to speed up the progress of cotton sowing and guide villagers to scientifically carry out spring plowing production, the Manas County Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau organized professional and technical personnel to go deep into the fields to provide full technical guidance and achieve standard, precise and efficient sowing.
“During the critical periods of cotton cultivation, planting and management, we sent professional and technical personnel to 13 major cotton planting towns to provide guidance and ensure the quality of cotton sowing.” said the relevant person in charge of the State Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau.
This year, our state has vigorously promoted the “dry sowing and wet planting” cotton planting technology. Compared with the past, the application of this technology has benefited from the improvement of saline-alkali land and the update of seeding machinery. Ma Tao told reporters that this technology was used in all the 48,000 acres of cotton he planted.
To grow high-quality cotton, you must first have good cotton seeds. The autonomous prefecture gives full play to its advantages in talent reserves and technology integration, does a good job in recommending cotton varieties, and comprehensively promotes the “one main and two auxiliary” cotton seed use model. The main recommended varieties of each county and city are controlled within 3, and the main recommended cotton varieties throughout the state are controlled at 7 Within this period, the cotton variety structure continued to be optimized, consolidating and improving cotton quality from the source.
Seeing that all the cotton seeds were sown, Ma Tao breathed a sigh of relief and said: “If the cotton seeds are sown in time and the management can keep up, there will be no problem in increasing income.” Last year, he chose Manas County Agriculture Xinluzao No. 82 recommended by the department has achieved double improvement in cotton output and income. The cotton output per mu has reached 450 kilograms, and the average net income per mu is 600 yuan.
Behind the cotton harvest is the fact that our state continues to take the lead of new development concepts and implement in-depth cotton “supply-side” structural reforms, from optimizing the production structure, accelerating technology promotion, cultivating excellent varieties, and promoting cotton production. It is a vivid practice of simultaneous efforts in many aspects such as full-process mechanization.
Our state’s light and heat resources are suitable for cotton growth and have the advantage of developing the cotton industry. The cotton planting area has been stable at about 1.8 million acres all year round. In recent years, the state has carried out large-scale land transfers and carried out large-scale operations, breaking the traditional scattered planting model of small farmers. The problem of land fragmentation has been solved, the utilization rate of water, soil and other agricultural resources has been improved, and driverless tractors and plant protection drones have been deployed. Intelligent modern agricultural machinery such as man-machine machines, baling cotton picking machines, and residual film recycling machines are widely used, and the mechanization rate of cotton production in the state has reached 100%.
In order to comprehensively promote the high-quality development of the cotton industry, this year, our state will concentrate cotton production areas in Manas County, Hutubi County, Changji City and Changji Agricultural Park, and at the same time accelerate the implementation of high-standard farmland construction , vigorously promote high-efficiency water-saving drip irrigation and machine-picked cotton planting models, build a cotton industry consortium, promote the development of the entire industry chain, and realize the fundamental transformation of the cotton industry from “quantity-benefit type” to “quality-benefit type”.
It is understood that as of April 25, 1.815 million acres of cotton have been planted across the state, and the sowing of 2 million acres of cotton is nearing completion.
