Tangshan: Affected by the weather, cotton growth this year is better than the same period last year. Although there was heavy rainfall in mid-August, it did not affect the growth of cotton, but instead alleviated the slight drought in the cotton fields. At present, some cotton has sporadic lint.
Local cotton farmers said that cotton has been growing well since sowing. The pests in cotton fields are mild, mainly aphids and stink bugs. Due to timely spraying of pesticides, the impact of pests and diseases on cotton growth is less than the same period last year. The cotton farmer said that from the current perspective, the yield of seed cotton this year may be 250-260 kg/mu, which is better than last year.
The person in charge of a local cotton enterprise said that based on the current lint price, the price of seed cotton is expected to be 3.2-3.3 yuan/jin this year.
Xingtai: Local cotton has gradually entered the spun-out period, and cotton farmers are expected to complete the first round of picking at the end of August. Forecasts from the local meteorological department show that the weather will be mainly sunny in the coming period, and the maximum temperature will reach 34 degrees Celsius, which is conducive to cotton spinning.
According to reports from cotton farmers, the local cotton peaches, which grow quickly, have spun out. The height of the cotton plant is 100-110 cm, with 8-10 fruit branches/plant and 20-25 cotton berries/plant. Management during the flocculation period is mainly to prevent premature aging of cotton plants or late maturity. The cotton fluffing period is also a period of high incidence of pests and diseases, so the prevention and control of pests and diseases at this time is the top priority.
