It is the cotton flowering season, and in the green cotton fields, the branches are covered with lush green cotton bolls. This year, more than 7.4 million acres of cotton have been planted in the Aksu region. Driven by the three-year action for the high-quality development of the cotton industry, various regions have vigorously promoted high-efficiency water-saving drip irrigation, “dry sowing and wet planting” planting technology and machine-picked cotton planting models. The number of bolls increased by 2.8 compared with the previous year. It is expected that the average seed cotton production per mu will increase by more than 20 kilograms, and a bumper harvest is expected.
On August 27, in Qiongkulaiken Village, Sanhe Town, Awati County, some cotton bolls had cracked in the cotton field, exposing snow-white cotton wadding. “This year, all my cotton is grown using the ‘dry sowing and wet planting’ planting technique, coupled with scientific field management. The cotton is growing well, with an average of seven or eight bolls per plant, and the flowers in the middle of the waist are gradually growing. The seed cotton output per mu is expected to be 400. More than kilograms,” said cotton farmer Xue Shiyun.
In Qiaotou Village, Guleawati Township, Wensu County, cotton farmers are busy carrying out field management and pest control operations. “Now is the critical period for cotton field management. As long as field management is done well, the yield will be guaranteed.” Cotton farmer Ayituremu Ablim said that his family’s 50 acres of cotton are all grown using machine-picked cotton. The seedlings are well established and have strong roots. As long as management is strengthened in the later stage, high cotton yields will not be a problem.
