The reporter learned from the Autonomous Region’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs: Cotton in the region has gradually entered the large-scale harvesting period. At present, more than 2.5 million acres of cotton have been harvested in the region (local), an increase of more than 400,000 acres year-on-year. Local governments and the Corps have harvested a total of more than 2.5 million acres of cotton. More than 7,000 cotton picking machines are put into cotton harvesting operations.
At present, millions of acres of cotton are ripe in Shawan City, and large cotton pickers are shuttled through the sea of white flowers, racing against time to lock in this year’s bumper harvest. Cotton in Korla City has also entered the picking period. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the cotton picking work, the local cotton picking work leading group has been organized to organize agricultural technicians to go into the fields to provide technical training and guidance for farmers to improve the quality of cotton harvesting from the source.
Recently, in order to ensure the smooth harvest of cotton, agricultural and rural departments at all levels have focused on promoting quality management of cotton during the harvest period and preparation of harvesting machinery and equipment. All localities will strictly control the quality of cotton. In accordance with the operation specifications for machine-picked cotton defoliation and ripening, defoliant spraying operations will be carried out in a timely manner to improve the quality of ripening. The standardized operations of cotton picking machines will be standardized, and the management of “new and old three silks” will be intensified. Improve the quality of cotton production from the source. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Autonomous Region will keep abreast of the supply and demand information of cotton harvesting machinery in the region, scientifically determine the cross-regional and imported quantities of machinery and tools, strengthen coordination and docking with relevant departments, strengthen supply and demand docking and service guarantee for operations, and ensure timely harvest of cotton. At present, there are more than 1,300 cotton picking machines participating in cotton harvesting across local and corps cotton areas, effectively ensuring mechanized cotton harvesting.
Since this year, the agricultural and rural departments of our district have taken effective measures to continuously improve the mechanization level of cotton production in the district and promote the full-process mechanization of cotton production. The per capita management area of machine-picked cotton in the district can reach more than 200 acres. The efficiency is 3-5 times that of hand-picked cotton. The labor intensity of farmers is significantly reduced, making cotton planting truly easy and paving the way for high-quality development of cotton production. This year, the region’s cotton growth is better than last year, the level of technological cotton planting has been significantly improved, the mechanization rate of the entire cotton process will exceed 94%, and the commercial cotton supply task is expected to be overfulfilled.
