In the third quarter of this year, the Haining hosiery industry worked hard to overcome the severe and complex international situation, repeated epidemics, sluggish demand, and fluctuations in raw material prices, and overall showed the characteristics of “stable and upward”. According to customs data, from January to August 2022, Haining’s socks exports totaled 1.606 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.25%.
According to the association’s visit, Haining’s hosiery export enterprises are currently facing multiple problems such as shrinking external demand, insufficient orders in the second half of the year, high overall costs, recurring epidemics, and increasing economic and trade frictions. In addition, the epidemic situation at home and abroad is still severe and complex, and there is also huge uncertainty in the world economic situation. From September 13th to 15th, the Haining Socks Industry Association organized 18 member companies to participate in the Osaka International Living Products Exhibition and the 15th Zhejiang Export Commodities (Osaka) Fair in Japan. This exhibition was approved by the Haining Municipal People’s Government. With strong support, we have achieved chartered flights overseas to grab orders, received more than 400 merchants, conducted nearly 200 business negotiations, and signed preliminary cooperation agreements with 29 Japanese merchants on site, with the intended transaction amount exceeding US$11 million. Exhibitors said that they gained a lot from being able to have face-to-face communication with customers this time, which laid the foundation for future cooperation. They will start making samples for customers immediately after returning, which will give the company a “reassurance”.
