Recently, with the release of funds for the Hohai University campus cooperation assistance project – the Ankang Shiquan County High-efficiency Sericulture Industry Demonstration Base Construction Project (Phase III), the story of Hohai University and Shiquan Sericulture joining hands has opened up a new chapter. On this page, Shiquan sericulture people also stepped up their efforts to start the project implementation work.
Since Hohai University established a targeted poverty alleviation relationship with Shiquan, sericulture has been one of the key assistance projects. On the industrial assistance road of Hohai University, new technologies and new equipment such as environmental intelligent control, quick-installation silkworm beds, automatic cocoon picking and mulberry leaf picking machines were quickly brought to Shiquan. Demonstrated and promoted the quick-installation movable silkworm table to save labor in rearing large silkworms, increasing the production efficiency and silkworm room utilization rate by 4 times; successfully explored a new compound management path for interplanting morels in mulberry gardens, and formulated its production technical regulations The demonstration of raising chickens in the mulberry garden not only solved the labor input problem of weeding in the mulberry garden, but also increased the breeding income; a county-level artificial feed breeding and distribution center for small silkworms was built, and the three-stage sericulture model gradually began to be promoted, transforming the traditional sericulture The time to produce silkworms has been reduced from 28 days to 15 days, the unit labor force has been increased from the original 5 batches to 8 batches, and the total breeding volume and income have been qualitatively improved. With the help of science and technology spanning thousands of miles, Hohai University has made the application rate of Shiquan mulberry and silkworm excellent varieties reach 100%, the co-breeding rate of small silkworms has reached 45%, and the application rate of square clusters has reached 56%. It has initially realized the transportation, storage and cutting of mulberry leaves. Mechanization, intelligent control of the environment for raising silkworms, labor-saving mulberry feeding and disinfection, and automation of cocoon harvesting have increased the labor productivity of silkworm farmers by more than 5 times. “Hard-core” new technologies have empowered the traditional sericulture industry to “break out of the cocoon and be reborn.”
As of now, the construction content of the Ankang Shiquan County High-efficiency Sericulture Industry Demonstration Base Construction Project (Phase III) is progressing as scheduled. The two places are cooperating with stronger measures and more practical actions to accelerate the modernization of the sericulture industry and promote sericulture. The industry is high-quality and efficient, and farmers are rich and prosperous, and we join hands in the promise of “rural revitalization.”
