Upon application by the People’s Government of Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province, the Chinese Sericulture Society carried out the preliminary review of materials, on-site review by an expert group and other certification work in accordance with the procedures stipulated in the “Chinese Sericulture Society’s “Hometown of Sericulture in China” Certification Management Measures (Trial)”, and believed that Fengcheng City’s tussah sericulture has clear positioning, large scale, strong technical strength, good industrial foundation and complete industrial chain. It is an important source of income for local farmers and a pillar industry for rural revitalization. It has made outstanding contributions to promoting local economic development and has great potential for further development. It has met various certification conditions stipulated in the “China Sericulture Society’s “China Sericulture Hometown” Certification and Management Measures (Trial)”. The 11th Standing Council of the Chinese Sericulture Society voted and approved the decision to grant Fengcheng City the title of “Hometown of Tussah Silkworms in China”. The title is valid for 5 years and takes effect from the date of certification.
In the future, Fengcheng City will focus on the advantage of the title of “China’s Hometown of Tussah Silkworms” and strive to create “a center, a base, a demonstration area and a city” in terms of industrial regional layout to realize the primary, secondary and tertiary industries of tussah silkworms. The comprehensive revitalization will contribute to the new round of Northeast revitalization, integration into the Liaodong Green Economic Zone, striving to become a “Green Development Demonstration County in Eastern Northeast China”, and building a “vibrant, beautiful and happy” New Fengcheng.
