Recently, the head of the Guangxi Rural Science and Technology Commissioner’s Sericulture Industry Service Group led a team to Gula Town, Binyang County to provide scientific and technological services and provide on-the-spot guidance on the breeding of improved mulberry seedlings and the management and maintenance of mulberry orchards in winter.
The service team was at the mulberry seedling breeding base to provide on-the-spot guidance on key technologies such as mulberry tree nursery construction, field drainage and irrigation, weeding and seedling raising, and guide the base to seize opportunities to increase production. The production and supply of large and high-quality mulberry seedlings will meet the needs of mulberry orchard replanting and expansion, and promote the orderly development of winter planting work. The service team also went deep into the mulberry fields to teach mulberry tree pruning, plowing, soil loosening and fertilization techniques, and on-site guidance to farmers on the standardized use of mulberry farm mini-tillers, electric pruning shears and other light and practical machines to improve labor productivity.
It is understood that since autumn and winter, the Sericulture Industry Service Group has combined the actual situation of sericulture production and organized teams to carry out in-depth scientific and technological services for autumn harvest and winter sericulture production. The special commissioner went to the grassroots level of 12 sericulture-producing cities, counties (districts) including Binyang, Mashan, Yizhou, Huanjiang, Donglan, Pingguo, Napo, Liucheng, and Xincheng, and learned more about it through on-the-spot inspections and household visits. The progress of autumn harvest and winter planting of sericulture production and local scientific and technological needs will be provided with targeted guidance aimed at solving technical problems and practical difficulties. Through scientific and technological services, various localities have actively responded to the adverse factors such as the extreme weather of high temperature and drought in autumn and the frequent occurrence of mulberry tree diseases and insect pests, and achieved high yields and increased income in sericulture production. According to incomplete statistics, the region produced 192,000 tons of silkworm cocoons from August to November, a year-on-year increase of 6.19%. The service team also promotes “winter planting” and “winter management” work through remote services and on-site guidance. The first is to guide various localities to strengthen “returning to the mountain for disinfection” after sericulture is completed to purify the sericulture environment; the second is to promptly carry out pruning and garden closing in winter to effectively prevent and control mulberry plant diseases and insect pests; the third is to introduce excellent varieties for improvement and expansion, and increase The fourth is to strengthen the management of deep plowing, loosening soil and fertilization, and promote the construction of high-standard mulberry orchards.
