On the morning of January 6, 2023, the “Guangxi Sericulture Genetic Improvement and Technology Innovation Center Laboratory” experimental building was officially opened. The person in charge of the station jointly unveiled the laboratory. The official opening of the experimental building is a positive measure to promote the construction of the sericulture science and technology innovation system and promote the high-quality development of the industry, and is of great significance.
The sericulture industry is an important characteristic and advantageous industry in Guangxi agriculture that enriches the people. It plays an important role in promoting agricultural efficiency in the region, increasing farmers’ income, promoting county economic development, and rural social stability. In April 2020, in order to adapt to the development of Guangxi’s sericulture industry and establish itself at the forefront of the national sericulture field, the station’s party committee decided to establish the Guangxi Sericulture Genetic Improvement and Technology Innovation Center Laboratory. The central laboratory mainly conducts research in four aspects: molecular breeding, pathological research on diseases and insect pests, gene function and application research, and development of special sericulture products. It fills the shortcomings of the Guangxi Sericulture Technology Extension Station in basic sericulture research and further consolidates the foundation for industrial development. Focusing on the relevant deployment requirements of the country and the autonomous region on strengthening basic scientific research and supporting high-quality development of the industry, the Guangxi Sericulture Genetic Improvement and Technology Innovation Center Laboratory Experimental Building responded to the times with the strong support of the Autonomous Region’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and started construction in 2020 , the overall renovation will be completed in December 2022, with a total construction area of 5094.79 square meters, of which the laboratory area is 2085.6 square meters, and the total value of instruments and equipment in 32 laboratory functional zones exceeds 6 million yuan. The experimental building has 4 floors. The overall layout is: office area and food-grade experimental area on the first floor, physiological and biochemical experimental area on the second floor, clean experimental area on the third floor, and molecular biology experimental area on the fourth floor. Currently, most basic scientific research work can be carried out. , greatly strengthening the basic conditions for sericulture research in Guangxi.
After the unveiling ceremony, the leaders and experts who participated in the unveiling ceremony visited the central laboratory to learn more about the layout, functional divisions, research content and development planning of the laboratory, laboratory construction and the use of experimental equipment Condition. When visiting the silk sample preparation room, leaders and experts became very interested in the silk strength testing experiment, watched the testing process on-site, and affirmed the role of the laboratory in scientific research.
Li Ruping pointed out that the next focus of Guangxi’s basic sericulture research is to cultivate and introduce high-level talents, produce more scientific research results, comprehensively develop the soft power of the laboratory, and build the central laboratory into the first and largest laboratory in Guangxi.
