Recently, sponsored by the Chinese Sericulture Society, the Silkworm Genetics and Breeding Professional Committee of the Chinese Sericulture Society The “15th Academic Symposium on Silkworm Genetics and Breeding of Chinese Sericulture Society” hosted by Jilin Provincial Sericulture Science Research Institute, Jilin Comprehensive Experimental Station of National Sericulture Industry Technology System and Jilin Provincial Sericulture Society was held in Jilin City, Jilin Province . More than 140 representatives from relevant universities, scientific research institutes, experimental stations, silkworm breeding farms, production and promotion units across the country attended the meeting. Pan Zhixin, deputy director of the Guangxi Sericulture Technology Promotion Station, and Huang Hongyan, deputy director of the Guangxi Sericulture Technology Promotion Station, led a team of 8 people to attend the meeting.
The opening ceremony was hosted by the Director of the Silkworm Genetics and Breeding Professional Committee of the Chinese Sericulture Society Hosted by Wang Yongqiang, Professor Dai Fangyin, Chairman of the Chinese Sericulture Society and Chief Scientist of the National Sericulture Industry Technology System, Wang Jun, Chief Agronomist of the Jilin Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, China Silk Association President Tang Lin delivered a speech respectively. The meeting focused on the innovation and utilization of domestic (tussah) silkworm germplasm resources, the current status of basic research on genetic breeding and the application of biotechnology breeding, the cultivation of diversified practical varieties such as high quality and high yield, strong resistance, and special purposes, and the breeding technology of improved varieties. 16 expert representatives from all over the country gave special reports on silkworm genetic breeding, artificial feed, silkworm molecular biology, new variety breeding, and construction of improved variety breeding bases. Among them, experts from the Guangxi Sericulture Technology Extension Station gave a wonderful report at the conference titled “Breeding of a yellow cocoon variety ‘Guisan No. 10’ of silkworms resistant to blood-type suppuration disease”.
