10,000 acres of cotton in Xinjiang’s Toksun County begin mechanical harvesting

In Kumish Town, Kesun County, tens of thousands of acres of cotton have entered the picking period, and the flowers are blooming and the scenery is picturesque. In the cotton fields, cotton pickers work back and forth to pick cotton. Walking into the 10,000-acre cotton field in Yingbostan Village, Kumish Town, the cotton wadding is in full bloom. The entire cotton field is like wearing a snow-white cotton jacket. The cotton balls are blooming one after another, as white and dazzling as snowflakes. With the rapid development of agricultural modernization, cotton cultivation in Kumish Town has achieved full mechanization. In thousands of acres of cotton fields, cotton picking machines are working back and forth. A small cotton picker can spit out a “cotton egg” of about 1 ton every 10 minutes, and can harvest 300 acres of land every day; a large cotton picker can spit out a “cotton egg” of more than 2 tons in less than 10 minutes. 600 acres of cotton can be harvested and packaged every day. Toksun County has a typical continental warm temperate desert climate, with little precipitation, long sunshine hours in summer, sufficient light and heat resources, and a large temperature difference between day and night; the number of continuous days of ≥15℃ can reach 180 days, and the frost-free period can reach more than 260 days. The sunshine hours in Toksun County range from 1,460 to 1,980 hours. In autumn, the weather is mainly sunny, which is conducive to photosynthesis of cotton.
