The new version of OEKO-TEX Standard 100 inspection standards and limit values have taken effect in all certification processes from April 1, 2015. The regulations for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) will be more stringent. In the future, all product levels shall not exceed the following limit values: Product levels 1 to 4: <1.0µg/㎡ (previous level 1: 0.05mg/kg; levels 2 and 3: 0.1mg/kg; Level 4: 0.5mg/kg). The limit value of perfluorooctane sulfonyl compound (PFOS) in all product grades is changed to <1.0µg/㎡ (previously 1.0µg/㎡). Through these two initiatives, we will provide support to many brands and retailers who hope to completely eliminate hazardous chemicals from the production process by 2020, and support "Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC)" and detoxification actions.
According to statistics from relevant departments, the total consumption of fluorine-based waterproof and oil-proof products in the domestic market in 2013 reached 13,000 to 15,000 tons. Carbon 8 products account for about 85%, but the PFOA and PFOS content of carbon 8 products completely exceeds the new version of OEKO-TEX Standard 100 inspection standard limit value. This requires the emergence of products that can achieve the effects of carbon 8 products and meet the limit values of the new version of OEKO-TEX Standard 100 inspection standards.
Replacing such a large amount of carbon-8 products has become an issue that major businesses are scrambling to think about. Carbon-6 products have undoubtedly become the first thing everyone considers. Various types and categories of environmentally friendly carbon-6 products have been launched.
