The China Professional Clothing Industry Association released the “Usage Trends of Functional Fabrics in China during the 13th Five-Year Plan” on June 13 at the China () Safety and Health Industry Expo.
The report “Usage Trends of Functional Fabrics in China during the 13th Five-Year Plan” is divided into six parts: 1. Major events in promoting the application of functional fabrics by the China Professional Clothing Industry Association; 2. Promotion and application status of functional fabrics in my country; 3. Production of functional fabrics in my country Entering the new normal; 4. Taking safety as the keystone, actively guiding the market demand for functional protective clothing; 5. Development trends of functional fabrics in China during the 13th Five-Year Plan; 6. 2017 Chinese functional protective clothing and functional fabric equipment and application specifications.
In the section “Promotion and Application of Functional Fabrics in my country”, the report cites statistical results from authoritative departments: the annual international market sales of functional textiles are approximately US$50 billion, of which the world’s demand for anti-static clothing reached US$22 billion in 2016. The global market sales of flame retardant materials are expected to exceed US$15 billion, with an annual growth rate of approximately 9%. From a global perspective, the market demand for functional fabrics will be strong in the coming period, and sales are expected to grow by about 4% per year.
At present, the professional attire of various industrial and mining enterprises in my country is developing towards a variety of needs, that is, extending from a single VI design, appearance and image demands, and job attire needs to meeting the protective functional needs of the type of work. In particular, the use of anti-static and flame-retardant fabrics has been widely recognized and accepted through the calls of national safety supervision departments and industry associations in response to major safety accidents. In addition to microelectronics, optoelectronics, precision instruments, aerospace, food, medicine and other industries that have special requirements for the environment and clothing, anti-static fabrics must be used. In recent years, anti-static fabrics have also begun to be used in petroleum, petrochemical, electric power, shipbuilding, automobile and other industries. Pay attention to professional attire with anti-static, flame retardant and three-proof functions. From a safety perspective, the materials used in protective clothing must have anti-static, flame retardant, waterproof, acid and alkali resistance, abrasion resistance, heat radiation resistance, deflagration resistance, and high strength. Protective clothing is not only a must-have clothing for high-risk working groups, but also the development trend of daily wear for all people. However, there is still a huge gap in the popularization and application of functional fabrics in my country. Policies and regulations are not perfect, and some executives of enterprises and institutions have insufficient understanding of the importance of the relationship between functional clothing and safety. In bidding and procurement, low-price bids are the representative, resulting in the lack of application guarantees for the functionality of raw materials and clothing. With the improvement of functionality, the promotion of functional fabrics has been affected. In terms of civilian use, the popularization of functional textiles for civilian use also has a long way to go. Objectively speaking, the popularization of civil functional textile knowledge requires more channels and more methods. There is still a long way to go before we can catch up with the application level of developed countries.
In the section “my country’s functional fabric production has entered a new normal”, the report elaborates on the current production and development of functional fabrics in my country from three aspects. 1.
