Foreign news on February 14, Australian cotton industry organization CottonAustralia recently stated that due to favorable conditions in most cotton growing areas, the country’s cotton output this year is expected to hit a record high. Australian cotton is one of the highest quality sustainable cottons, but was affected by drought in 2019-20, with production of less than 590,000 bales, compared with 2.8 million bales last year.
CottonAustralia CEO Adam Kay said: “The heavy rainfall at the end of last year and the beginning of this year has made growers optimistic. If the situation continues to be good, cotton production may reach about 5.2 million bales.”
< Kay said some areas had not received enough rain and others suffered severe flooding, but most growing areas benefited from warm temperatures, good rainfall and controlled pests.

“Although yields per hectare will also vary greatly, especially for dryland and irrigated cotton, some are predicting 12-14 bales per hectare in irrigated areas. Good results are also expected in dryland areas due to rainfall and natural conditions this year. ”
